Dr. Jeff Foster
Dr. Jeff Foster attended Newport Grammar School, Cocke County High School, and ETSU. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1981 and joined the practice of Drs. Nathan Ford and William B. Henry. The practice was established October 17, 1950, by Dr. Ford.
Dr. Foster is a member of Crossroads Community Church and is a member of the Gideons. He has served terms on local boards and organizations such the Cocke County Election Commission, Cocke County Library Board, Newport-Cocke County Economic Development Commission, Newport Central Charities, Douglas Adult Cooperative, and the East Tennessee Eye Bank. Dr. Foster has been a past president of the Lions Club and Boy’s Club.
As an optometric physician Dr. Foster is a member of the Smoky Mountain Optometric Physicians, Tennessee Academy of Optometric Physicians, Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, SECO International, and the American Optometric Association. The Tennessee Optometric Association in 1984 named Dr. Foster the Young OD of the Year; in 1986 named him the OD of the Year; and in 2014 the OD of the Decade. Dr. Foster is a past legislative chair of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. He is a past president of the Tennessee Optometric Association, Tennessee Academy of Optometry, and is a past Chair of the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Foster serves on the Courtesy/Consultative Staff of Tennova Hospital’s Newport Medical Center in Newport. Dr. Foster is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.
When not in the office Dr. Foster enjoys some fishing, hunting, clay shooting, travel, and is an avid fan of the ETSU Buccaneers.
